New savings groups launched in Banadir
Twelve new women-led savings circles opened this quarter, giving over 200 women direct access to capital for the first time.
Somali-led · Women-led · Since the ground up
HWRO stands with women and girls across Somalia's Federal Member States — building protection, dignity and opportunity from Banadir to Puntland, led by the women who live it.
What We Do
Every program HWRO runs is built with the women and girls it serves — not delivered to them. Together they form a single pathway from protection to power.

How Change Happens
Every program we run moves a woman through the same arc — from safety, to skill, to standing at the table where decisions get made.
Safe spaces, case management and emergency response meet women and girls exactly where they are.
Education, vocational training and economic tools turn safety into independence.
Leadership platforms and peacebuilding roles put women at the center of decisions that shape their communities.
From the Field
Twelve new women-led savings circles opened this quarter, giving over 200 women direct access to capital for the first time.
Our latest group of secondary-school scholars started classes across Puntland and Southwest State this term.
Field teams delivered emergency supplies and safe-space support to displaced families in Hirshabelle.
About HWRO
A Somali, women-led organization advancing the rights, protection and empowerment of women and girls across Somalia.
Home / About Us
Our Vision
We envision Somali communities where women and girls exercise full rights and agency — in the home, the market and the halls of government — free from violence and exclusion.
Our Mission
HWRO delivers protection services, economic pathways and leadership platforms for Somali women and girls, working hand in hand with communities, elders and local institutions.
What Guides Us
Every woman and girl we serve is treated with respect, never as a statistic.
We take on hard, sensitive issues that others avoid, because they can't wait.
Solutions are built with the women and elders who live them, not handed down.
We report openly on our funding, our programs, and how we handle concerns.
What We Do
Eight programs, built with the women and girls they serve — spanning protection, education, economic power and peace.

Our Footprint
HWRO works directly with communities across Somalia — from the capital to rural districts — adapting each program to the realities on the ground in that region.
Home to our national office in Mogadishu. Our largest concentration of protection services, GBV case management and girls' education programs runs here, alongside close coordination with national institutions and international partners.
Programs in Baidoa and surrounding districts focus on humanitarian response and economic empowerment, supporting women and girls affected by displacement and recurring drought.
Leadership and peacebuilding work in Galmudug centers on including women in clan reconciliation and local governance processes, alongside climate-resilience training for women-led cooperatives.
Our Puntland programs pair girls' scholarships and mentorship with maternal health and WASH outreach in coastal and inland communities.
Newer program activity in Hirshabelle focuses on rapid humanitarian response and rebuilding safe spaces for women and girls in communities recovering from crisis.
We're steadily expanding. Reach out to ask about our current or planned activity near you.
